Chief of Party
POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Gaborone, Botswana
The “Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Mitigation in Botswana’s Communal Rangelands” Project (the “Project”) funded by GCF, CI, and the Government of Botswana aims to utilize collective management of livestock and ecosystems to restore Botswana’s communal rangelands, increasing the climate resilience of vulnerable populations and reducing GHG emissions. Over 8 years, the project will undertake activities in 104 villages in Ngamiland, Kgalagadi, and Bobirwa areas of Botswana. In these districts, the Project is targeting the improved management of 4.6 million hectares of rangelands.
The Chief of Party is responsible for the leadership and management of this ambitious and pioneering project. They will provide overall leadership management and oversees the technical and strategic direction of the project, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and stakeholder and a focus on achieving results. They will deliver agreed GCF outcomes related to beneficiaries reached, improved land/livestock management, and increased income generation in climate-vulnerable populations. This position is accountable for risk oversight and adaptive management for all components of the project including ensuring that the project delivers in line with CI standards and values in every respect.
Farmer Facilitation Associate
POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Botswana (Seronga, Gumare, Shakawe (Ngamiland); Sekoma, Tsabong (Kgalagadi); or Mathathane (Bobirwa))
The Farmers Facilitation Associate (FFA) will work closely with and report to the Area Farmers Facilitation Lead (FFL) to support and facilitate farmer and community liaison and mobilization for project participation. Additionally, the FFA will assist in implementing project guidelines and supervision while ensuring effective pasture and livestock management, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, and maintenance of project equipment within the specified cluster.
